ABOUT US![]()

Chief Executive Officer: Sandra Silva
Girl Scouts - Spanish Trails Council, a non-profit organization incorporated under the laws of the State of California, is chartered by the Girl Scouts of the United States of America (GSUSA) and the Congress of the United States and is a member of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts.
A charter is a credential issued by Girl Scouts of the United States of America designating the local Girl Scout Council and granting the right to develop, manage, and maintain Girl Scouting within the specified area of jurisdiction through authority delegated to its board of directors. This authority includes the responsibility to serve all girls in the chartered jurisdiction. Serving a total yearly membership of more than 14,000 girls, the board is composed of volunteer women and men who reflect the varied geographical, economic, and ethnic groups within the council. The Board of Directors develops Goals and Objectives to give direction to the membership in doing the work of the council. This work is evaluated annually and updated accordingly.
Annual membership dues from each individual are sent to the national organization to support Girl Scouts of the USA.
Girl Scouts - Spanish Trails Council...
We are one of more than 300 local units (councils) chartered by Girl Scouts of the USA to administer and develop Girl Scouting in the communities we serve. Membership is comprised of girls, women, and men from 36 communities. Girl Scouting began in the local council more than 50 years ago.
Girl Scouts - Spanish Trails Council is part of Region VII, which includes Alaska, Arizona, California, Guam, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah and Washington.
Serving more than 14,000 girls, 3,200 adults, and 890 troops
The strength of Girl Scouting is in volunteerism. However, the day to day costs for maintaining the council including office operations, insurance, maintenance of program centers, camps, training courses, and resource materials must be met through council fund development efforts. Other fund development efforts provide a troop an opportunity to raise funds necessary to deliver program to the girls in the troop.
United Way allocations
The Mt. Baldy United Way provides for some of the council's financial needs.
Product Sales (Girl Scout cookies,
nuts, QSP)
The fall sale is a major fund raiser for the troops. The fall sale is held in November so that the troop profit can be used for troop program throughout the year. The troops receive a designated amount per product sold.
The Annual Girl Scout Cookie® Sale
The Girl Scout cookie sale is a very special learning experience for Girl Scouts. It teaches girls about business through record keeping, handling money, following directions, time tables and setting goals. Girls learn how to meet the public, thereby helping to build their self-confidence. The Girl Scout cookie sale provides girls with knowledge that will benefit them throughout their lives, as consumers and career women.
The "Gifts for Girls" campaign gives every family the opportunity to demonstrate its belief in the values of Girl Scouting. "Gifts for Girls" contributions are the key to expanding Girl Scout opportunities and services for all girls.
Annual gifts and contributions
The Annual Giving Campaign is a community campaign where businesses, service organizations, and individuals have an opportunity to support Girl Scouts - Spanish Trails Council.
